How to Fix Speaker or Headphone Crackling

Audio contains crackles, pops or distortion.

Before you begin

Start with reversible settings checks. Keep your device supported and powered safely. Do not force connectors, open sealed batteries or try high-voltage repair steps.

How to troubleshoot the problem

  1. 01

    Lower playback volume

Reduce both source and device volume to exclude overload and avoid hearing discomfort.

  2. 02

    Check cables or wireless conditions

Inspect loose plugs without opening powered equipment; move Bluetooth devices closer.

  3. 03

    Compare two applications

Determine whether distortion follows one browser/app or all audio.

  4. 04

    Turn off sound enhancements temporarily

Compare with EQ, spatial sound and aggressive processing disabled, if your OS permits.

  5. 05

    Try a different output device

A clear alternate output helps distinguish speaker hardware from source audio.

RETEST / VERIFY

Check the result.

Run a short gentle speaker test. If crackling persists on every app and output, investigate the system audio driver.

When to get professional help

If the same problem occurs in multiple compatible applications or devices after safe checks, follow the manufacturer's exact support instructions or ask a qualified repair professional. A browser test cannot prove every hardware component is healthy.
