DeviceCheckup is designed around local browser tests. This notice describes the site's own testing code; optional advertising and other third-party integrations can operate under their own policies.
Camera, microphone and sensor access
Camera and microphone tests use browser permission prompts. When enabled, their streams remain within the browser and are stopped when you end or leave the test. Our website does not upload or save the captured video or microphone audio. Location and motion tests similarly use browser-provided data without intentionally transmitting that sensor data to our servers.
Network tests and server logs
Connection and stability tools make requests to DeviceCheckup endpoints, such as /health.txt, to estimate this website's response time. Those requests are visible to our server and may be logged with standard technical information including IP address, user agent, timestamp and requested URL. These are not general internet speed or ISP reliability certifications.
Browser storage
Some tests briefly exercise local browser storage. The IndexedDB diagnostic creates a temporary database and requests its deletion when finished; temporary browser artifacts may persist if the browser closes unexpectedly. We do not use an account database for these tools.
Advertising and third parties
If advertising is enabled, the ad provider may set or read cookies, use device identifiers or process usage information, according to its applicable policies and consent requirements. We do not claim that browser-local tests make advertising anonymous. Applicable consent mechanisms must be configured before personalized advertising where required. Advertising may be absent while approval or setup is pending.
Your choices
You can deny camera, microphone, location or other permissions in your browser, clear site data through browser settings, use the tools without signing in, and leave any test at any time. Some tests won't function without their relevant browser permission.
