How to Check and Deal With Dead Pixels on a Monitor

A tiny point remains black or colored across images.

Before you begin

Start with reversible settings checks. Keep your device supported and powered safely. Do not force connectors, open sealed batteries or try high-voltage repair steps.

How to troubleshoot the problem

  1. 01

    Clean the surface first

A speck of dust or debris can resemble a faulty pixel.

  2. 02

    Cycle pure colors

Use black, white, red, green and blue screens to determine whether the point changes.

  3. 03

    Check another input

If possible, use a different computer or input source to exclude a rendered artifact.

  4. 04

    Review warranty pixel policy

Manufacturers use different thresholds for dead/stuck pixel replacement.

  5. 05

    Avoid pressure or improvised repair

Do not squeeze, rub or strike the panel; you may cause permanent damage.

RETEST / VERIFY

Check the result.

Photograph the issue for warranty support. Do not assume that all stuck pixels can be repaired.

When to get professional help

If the same problem occurs in multiple compatible applications or devices after safe checks, follow the manufacturer's exact support instructions or ask a qualified repair professional. A browser test cannot prove every hardware component is healthy.
