How to Fix a Website That Cannot Detect Your Camera

Your camera works in apps but certain websites cannot request it.

Before you begin

Start with reversible settings checks. Keep your device supported and powered safely. Do not force connectors, open sealed batteries or try high-voltage repair steps.

How to troubleshoot the problem

  1. 01

    Confirm HTTPS

Most camera APIs are restricted to secure origins.

  2. 02

    Check browser site permissions

Allow the camera for the intended website if you trust it.

  3. 03

    Check OS camera privacy settings

The operating system can block browser access separately from site permission.

  4. 04

    Close other camera apps

Competing apps may hold access to the device.

  5. 05

Clear only this site permission if needed

Reset the specific site permission and retry, rather than resetting all browser data.

RETEST / VERIFY

Check the result.

The permissions test identifies reported states; the live webcam test confirms whether a stream can actually start.

When to get professional help

If the same problem occurs in multiple compatible applications or devices after safe checks, follow the manufacturer's exact support instructions or ask a qualified repair professional. A browser test cannot prove every hardware component is healthy.
